The first wind power plant in Georgia
Georgia established that the construction of the first wind power plant will start this month in the regions of Gori and Kareli. The company which will carry out the construction, Kartli Wind Power, is comprised of the entities: Georgian Energy Development Fund, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.
70% of the total costs of the power plant will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); the rest of the cost will be paid by the Georgian Energy Development Fund.
EBRD will invest in this project a sum of $24 million; a representative of EBRD declared that the wind power plant which will be constructed in Gori represents a premiere in this sense for the Caucasus area. At the same time, he declared that Gori is one of the most important regions in the world in terms of wind energy.

wind power plant in Gori will have a total capacity of 20.7 MW, generating 88 million kWh of electric energy;

According to the data presented by EBRD, the total cost of the project will raise to the value of $30 million; the project is located very close to the capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi.
