Georgia established that the construction of the first wind power plant will start this month in the regions of Gori and Kareli. 70% of the total costs of the power plant will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); the rest of the cost will be paid by the Georgian Energy Development Fund. 

 

EBRD will invest in this project a sum of $24 million; a representative of EBRD declared that the wind power plant which will be constructed in Gori represents a premiere in this sense for the Caucasus area. At the same time, he declared that Gori is one of the most important regions in the world in terms of wind energy.
